As a member of a team in Socrative, you can join the upgraded experience of that team's paid plan. Joining a team starts with an invitation from a team owner or admin.

Team owners and admins can also manage your team role and access to paid features. More information on roles and team management can be found here: Team Overview and Management.

Joining a Team

Team Owners & Admins can send team invitations from within their Socrative accounts. The invitation will be created for a specific email address and will include your role on the team.

Accepting a Team Invitation

Socrative team invitations are sent via email and include your initial role on the team and a link to join the team. Follow the link in your email to sign in to Socrative (or create a new account) and join the team. You must sign into the Socrative account that uses the specified email address or create a new account with that email address.

🚨 The email address used for your Socrative account must match the email on the invite to successfully join a team. If you receive an error message stating Unable to Join Team, you will need to send a new invitation to the correct email address or try again with the matching email address specified in the invitation.

If the team has paid seats available on its plan, you will be assigned one of those seats automatically so you can start using the upgraded features of Socrative right away. Your team owner and admins can manage the team's available seats as needed if your account needs to be upgraded.

Joining a team before a subscription is purchased will also allow your team owner or admins to upgrade your account once a subscription is purchased.

Declining a Team Invitation

If you were invited in error or do not need access to the team subscription, you can safely disregard the invitation email and your account will not be added to that team.

Not Receiving Team Invitations?

If a team owner or admin has sent you an invitation, but you have not received it yet, please ask them resend the invitation and check your email's spam or junk folders. They will also need to ensure they have entered the correct email address when sending the invitation.

Invitation Error Messages

  • Unable to Join Team: The Socrative account you join the team with must match the email address the invitation was sent to. Please request a new invitation and use the same email address to sign into Socrative or create a new account.

  • Expired Invite: Invitation emails and links will expire after 14 days, please request a new invitation from a team owner or admin.

  • Invalid Invite: Copying and pasting an invitation link (instead of following the link directly in the email) can result in this error, please ensure the copied link exactly matches the invitation link or request a new invitation from a team owner or admin.

  • Something Went Wrong: If the error is not specific, please request a new invitation from a team owner or admin and reach out to Socrative Support if the second invitation returns the same error.

Joining Multiple Socrative Teams

You can join up to three teams. This is helpful if you manage billing for multiple teams in your organization or if you want to be a member of an organization's team while also having your own individual team. You can switch between your Teams using the drop-down menu in the Account tab in your Profile settings.

Leaving a Team

Admins and Members can leave a team at any time. Owners will need to transfer team ownership to another team member before leaving the team.

When a team you participate in becomes inactive or irrelevant to you, it may be worth it to leave that team.

Leave a team by navigating to your profile on the top right and selecting Plans and Members. Choose the team you are leaving from the ‘Viewing team:’ selector and press the Leave Team button.

When leaving a team, you lose access to paid features if you hold a paid seat on this team. If you are a team admin, you lose access to billing information or past invoice history.
