What is Socrative?

Socrative is an online tool for teachers to give quizzes and on-the-fly assessments to students. With Socrative you can create your own quizzes, quizzes are automatically graded, and you can create reports to evaluate how everyone did.


How many students can you have in a room?

  • With both the Free and Essentials plans, up to 50 students can take a quiz in a room at once.

  • With the Socrative Pro plan, up to 300 students can take a quiz in a room at once.

Can I have the maximum number of students active in each of my rooms at the same time?

Yes! Depending on your plan, you can have the maximum number of students in each room at a time.

  • If you have the Pro plan with 30 rooms, you can have up to 300 students in each of those rooms taking a quiz at the same time!

  • If you have the Free or Essentials version of Socrative, you can have up to 50 students.

How many rooms can I have?

  • Free:1 room

  • Essentials: 5 rooms

  • Pro: 30 rooms

How long can I leave a quiz or activity running in a room?

You can leave an activity running in a room for as long as you need. The activity will be closed to students when you click the Finish button in the Results section of your account.

Can I have multiple quizzes or activities running in a room at a time?

You can have one activity running in a room at a time. If you need to run multiple activities at once, you can start them in separate rooms. Here is how to create additional rooms in the Essentials & Pro versions of Socrative.


How many questions can I have in a single quiz?

There can be a maximum of 500 questions in a quiz.

Is there a limit to how long questions and answers are?

Socrative questions can have 65,000 characters while answers can have 10,000 characters. 

Can you insert math symbols?

Can I add audio or video clips to a quiz?

At this time, we do not support uploading audio tracks or video files in quizzes. However, we are always looking at ways to improve Socrative and the ability to add sounds and video clips is currently under consideration.

Can I delete quiz reports?

Yes, Socrative allows you to delete unnecessary reports as needed. Please note that you can only delete the reports created by you.

Can I sort my quizzes in my library?

Yes, you can sort your quizzes Alphabetically or by Date Modified.

Can more than 1 teacher share a Socrative account?

Socrative accounts can be used by one teacher at a time. We always recommend that teachers register their own account. Once an account is created, teachers can then share quizzes with each other or even create a Shared Library to collaborate with!

Payment & Billing Questions

If I upgrade will I keep all the quizzes and reports from my Free account?

Yes! All of your existing quizzes and reports will be available once you upgrade.

How much does Socrative cost?
You can view pricing and features included from within your account beside your profile on the 'Choose Your Plan' page. This is accessible by selecting the 'Get Pro' option if you're new to upgrading or the 'View Plans' option if you want to upgrade or modify your existing Pro account.

What is the exchange rate for my currency?

The exchange rate for foreign currencies varies daily and is determined at the time of purchase.

Will I be automatically billed a recurring fee at the end of the year?

You can decide if you would like your account to Auto-Renew each year, or if you would like to turn off Auto-Renew for your account.

I purchased my subscription on the wrong Socrative account, can I transfer it?

Please contact and we can assist you with a refund so that re-payment can be processed.

Do you issue Purchase Orders for Socrative Pro?

We issue purchase orders for bulk purchases starting at 5+ teachers. 

Can I get a receipt?

We automatically email you a receipt after purchase. If you haven't received one, please check your Spam or Junk folders to ensure the message wasn't filtered. You can also download your receipt
